The Lion King – the highest-grossing hand-drawn animated feature of all time – was the first Disney animation to have a completely original storyline instead of being adapted from a pre-existing one. 25 years after, it still hasn’t lost its allure and following the success of The Jungle Book remake, Disney has taken on a challenge to reboot this all-time classic too. Fans all over the world are wondering, will the new photorealistic computer-animated movie beat the traditionally animated one? Only time will tell. There’s not much time left to find out since the premiere of the new Lion King is just around the corner.
The new photorealistic movie is directed by Jon Favreau and will hit theaters on the 19th of July. To make the waiting easier, Disney released striking photos of the cast posing in front of the characters they’re playing.
50 days before the premiere of The Lion King movie, Disney shared posters introducing the main characters and the famous voices behind them. Many were surprised to see that American actor, comedian, and performer Donald Glover will feature as the main character Simba. The Beyhive started buzzing after it was revealed that Nala will be voiced by none other than the one and only Beyoncé.
